Breathe In, Breathe Out is the debut solo track for Silverchair drummer, Ben Gillies. Stepping out from behind his kit to show off his multi-instrumental abilities, this meditative melody delivers an exquisite sneak peek for what’s to come from Ben’s solo pursuits.

With a body of music that’s been in the pipeline for five years, Ben Gillies (Silverchair) has delivered his debut solo track, Breathe In, Breathe Out.

Aptly titled, the track is like a peaceful meditation, with the entire structure of the song feeling like a steady guided breathing session. The verses draw in the overwhelming thoughts and the chorus expels the tension, expanding and contracting with the music.

Breathe In, Breathe Out’ is a microcosm of the human experience… To recognise every moment. To stop, be present, take it in, and not to take it for granted.

Ben Gillies

There’s a finesse and sophistication to this track that only a seasoned rocker like Ben Gillies could deliver. The masterful control of style without bowing to the pressure of needing unexpected grandeur shows maturity. There is no force and no facade, just a beautifully constructed track that pays tribute to the gentle rock of the 1970s, with a few carefully selected modern elements.

A celebration of consciousness and a reminder to remain present, Breathe in, Breathe Out is softly coaxing us out of our 2020-inflicted cocoons to soak up a new state of acceptance.
