Brisbane-based alt-indie producer Yb. has released his latest track Waiting. A song that’s shaking, tingling and packed full of little melodic and percussive gems, Yb. has created a tune that’s both dreamy yet energetic, and complex yet simple.

In the same vein as I Got U (Duke Dumont ft. Jax Jones) and Music Sounds Better With You (Stardust), there’s nothing overly complicated about Waiting, but it’s filled to the brim with all of the right hooks that make it irresistibly contagious.

The funky bass riff loops throughout the song with a slight tweak here and there, and the echoed vocals push it straight to the top of the dreamy dance track pile.

As described by Yb., Waiting explores the experience of being unsure about what someone feels about you – that strange kind of limbo where actions speak louder than words but their actions just aren’t matching up.

I really wanted feelings of intrigue and doubt to be the focus when creating this song. It almost felt like it was only way I could have approached it once I had the instrumental ready. I made it an initial goal of mine to convey these motifs without losing the fun, catchy, feeling of the song, so it only seemed right to create a tune where these two elements could exist in the same setting.

For long summery days, pumping nights, or lazy beers in the sun, Waiting has ticked all the right boxes.
